Local Businesses are a prime component of the economic engine that drives the nearby Comox real estate market and our valley is home to several wineries. This region of Vancouver Island offers an ideal environment for wine production and other specialty agri-business ventures. A wide, gentle sloping coastal plain is crisscrossed with a web of rivers and protected in the west by a ridge of mountains capped by the majestic Comox Glacier. The Comox Valley enjoys mild coastal winters with little or no snow, a long growing season and more sunshine than other British Columbia growing areas. In fact, vineyards and wineries in the Comox Valley are currently producing fabulous award-winning wines.
The 40 knots Vineyard and Winery is the largest grape winery in the Comox Valley and one of the largest on Vancouver Island. It resides on 24 acres of land on the Comox Peninsula with captivating views of the nearby ocean and mountains. The entrance to the winery is located at 2400 Anderton Road, Comox BC V9M 4E5.
This winery crafts wines that are distinctly Vancouver Island. They use Comox grown grapes that are delicate, aromatic and fresh. Their ethical farming combined with traditional methods bring clean, crisp, juicy acidity wines that pair perfectly with our fresh food from this Valley. This winery’s portfolio of offerings includes a Chardonnay, a Pinot Gris, a Pinot Noir, a rosé and an aromatic blend of Pinot Gris and Schönburger called Whitecaps. As well, the winery has a 2010 sparkling wine, Spindrift Brut, made with a classic cuvée of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. This wine won a gold medal in a 2013 competition. In addition to the locally produced grapes and wine they also offer a selection of wines from the Okanagan that include some bolder reds and icewine that cannot be produced locally.
The 40 knots winery is rated as one of the top things to do in Comox by TripAdvisor and it was awarded a certificate of excellence by TripAdvisor.
